Who doesn’t love the creamy luxury of cold process soap made with goat milk? Come make your very own loaf (9-10 bars) from scratch, start to finish. We’ll keep this one simple with a single color, but you’ll have a variety of botanicals to choose from to decorate the top, and of course you’ll get to choose the fragrance.

Working with goat milk is an advanced technique, so this class is geared toward students who have made cold process soap before. However, newbies are welcome if they feel up to the challenge!

PLEASE NOTE:

· The soap will need to remain in the mold for a couple of days before you can remove it, cut it, and take it home. The instructor will be at the MACC the following Monday from 5-6 pm to meet with anyone who wants to cut their own soap. If you can’t make it during this time, the instructor will cut the soap for you, wrap it, and leave it in a bag with your name on it behind the register.

· If you prefer not to return for your soap, you may instead choose to purchase the soap mold ($10) so you can take it home with you the same day. If possible, please notify the instructor before the class day so she can provide a new mold for your use.

· Making soap involves lye, a caustic substance. Safety equipment will be provided and safety procedures followed. Once the soap is fully saponified (24-48 hours after making it), there will be no lye left in the soap and it will be perfectly safe to touch.

· Even though saponification is complete after 48 hours, for best results the soap should be allowed to cure for at least 4 weeks. This will improve the lather and make the soap last longer.
